Elena De Martin

Elena De Martin meets Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga at the end of the 90’s. Her wish to further investigate this discipline which immediately fascinates her, leeds her to meet Lino Miele, who becomes her first teacher and whom she would follow as his assistant for many years in Italy and abroad.

Since 2000 she visits India every year. In 2001, for the first time, she meets Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore (south of India) where she attends the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute founded by him. Wishing to go into her yogic experience more thoroughly and reach the source of its tradition, from 2005 she intensifies her staying in Mysore by studying for long periods under the guidance of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, his daughter Sarasvati and his grandson R. Sharath.

In 2007 she moves to Mysore with her son for over one year and dedicates herself to the intensive study of Ashtanga Yoga.
She increasingly approaches the path of comprehension and deepening of the yogic experience, studies Sanskrit, Yoga philosophy, the Scriptures and their chanting under the guidance of Indian teachers M.A. Jayashree and M.A. Narasimhan. The nearness to such extraordinary teachers and the intensive study in the Indian country turn to be an extremely meaningful experience in her personal path of transformation and comprehension of yoga as an intrinsic value of great depth to apply to everyday life.

Elena constantly travels to Mysore, several times a year where she continues her studies under the guidance of  R. Sharath Jois (successor of Guruji deceased in 2009) whom she hosted in Milan in September 2011.
Her continuous travels to India keep alive in her that passion and love for yoga that brought so much to her life and that she shares everyday through her teaching.

During one of her most significant paths of yogic knowledge, she meets Richard Freeman for an intensive study program, and recognizes in him a great comprehension of the yogic message in addition to a rare capacity of interpretation of it according to the western thought.

Besides the study of Ashtanga, she approaches Vipassana meditation in  2001, according to the teaching of master S.N. Goenka, this regular practice contributed to bring  further consciousness to the research path started through yoga.

Elena has been a teacher in Milan since 2001, she holds seminars in Italy and abroad and obtained the authorization Level 2 to teach Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga from the “Sri K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute" in Mysore.

Anastasia Konstadinidis

Anastasia Konstadinidis stumbled upon Ashtanga yoga early in 2012 when she attended an introduction workshop in a yoga studio in her neighborhood in Stockholm. The next day she went back eager to learn more about the practice.

She fell in love pretty quick and has had a dedicated daily Ashtanga yoga practice for almost four years. In 2014 she made her first trip to Mysore in India, the source of Ashtanga Yoga, to study with her teacher R. Sharath Jois at KPJAYI. She was back in 2015 and 2016 and she is committed to return to Mysore every year to deepen her practice and continue her studies.

When she started practicing she was mostly drawn to the physical postures, today she appreciates the internal work more. The daily practice gives her inner strength and has given her courage to do things she would never have done years ago. She now travels the world sharing her passion for the Ashtanga yoga.

Anastasia has studied with KPJAYI Level 2 Authorized Teacher Laruga Glaser for almost two years in Sweden. During her travels, she also had the opportunity to study with teachers like Rolf Naujokat in Goa and Iain Gryzak in Bali. She has a background as a journalist but her passion for the practice got her into assisting, and in early 2015 she started teaching classes on her own.

Last year she went to Costa Rica for six months and taught Ashtanga Yoga at surf and yoga center in a small community by the coast. She had an amazing experience living by the beach in the jungle and is now ready for the city life in Milano.

Anastasia is grateful and humbled by this yoga practice and devoted to share her experience. She is dedicated to meet every individual where they are today and believes that creating a strong foundation in yoga is the key to developing a calm and steady mind.

She is very happy to be in Milano and share this journey with all the students in La Yoga Shala. She is honored to be a part of the team and for the opportunity to assist Elena de Martin.

Luis de Llano

Luis was born in Venezuela and was always related with holistic disciplines, for a few years he started seeking for a personal practice until he found the Ashtanga system and had the certainty that he had found his path. A discipline that stimulates his inner spirit and his passion, he feels that one of the most important aspects that this practice has brought him is a discipline approached from love and that is continuously transforming himself.

Before practicing Yoga he already had a good relationship with his body from practicing Kung Fu for three years but his teacher had a very physical approach and he was looking for something more subtle.

In Caracas, he practiced for a few month with the help of Ashtanga teachers: Tita D’Enjoy, Bernardino Machado, Isabel Neher, and Liz Carrasquel. First building a self practice and then committing himself to a daily practice under Liz's guidance. This experience helped him to feel more calm during his everyday life, to have a better and more optimistic attitude as well as a more focused mind. Then he started teaching in Soham Shala for two years and later he was also assisting Liz in Samasthitih Shala.

In January 2016 he travelled to Mysore, India, and studied for two months with Sarasvati Jois, daughter of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. This was an awesome experience for him, Sarasvati gave him a lot of strength and reinforced his passion in the practice. While he was in Mysore he also studied with Dr Jayashree and Prof Narasimhan and learnt about the indian philosophy, the chanting of the sutras, and a little sanskrit. This experience really touched him very much and motivated him even more.

Afterwards he decided to move to Europe and started practising in Mysore House Madrid being very moved by the devotions of all the teachers in the shala Josť Carballal and Rafael Martinez and by the strong influence of R. Sharath Jois’ way in there.

He studied with Tim Feldmann in Venezuela on March 2013, and with Lino Miele in Buenos Aires on October 2014 where he received a huge motivation in his path.

For Luis the aim of practising Ashtanga Yoga is to be a better person, friend, son, lover, citizen and to evolve. The aspect of surrendering is very important: letting go of tensions, fears, reactions is the path that he is now on because of his practice.

He is currently very happy and grateful to be in Milano, learn with senior teacher Elena De Martin, be a dedicated assistant at her Shala and share his knowledge with the students.
